Question: Hi my name is Susan, I am severely anemic and my doctor recommended I take up to 325 mg of iron a day, do you have a product that can meet these requirements in a liquid or powder form? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Susan D
Answer: Susan,
First, are you sure it was 325mg’s a day? If yes, read the rest. If it was 32.5mg’s a day than that’s ok.
A menstruating woman only needs 30mg’s a day and 18-20mg’s a day the rest of the month. Your doctor needs to do a little home work and figure out what the real problem is – it’s not a lack of iron containing foods in your diet. 325mg’s a day is insane. For one, you would be so constipated from that much iron that it would take a colonic just to have a bowel movement. I am guessing that you might be vitamin C deficient and/or hydrochloric acid (HCl) deficient and/or vitamin B12/intrinsic factor deficient.
I personally would never recommend or take above 60mg’s of iron a day and the only iron I recommend is “Iron Glycinate”. I can’t tell you what to do but you really should think about seeing someone else. Let me know how this turns out.
Sincerely,
Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
Response back: Thank you for your quick feed back. I am definitely calling my doctor, even now as I type. I can’t believe he could have made such an error, I am glad to find someone who can question this and give me sound advice.
Thank you so much!
Susan
