Q: Hi Doc !
I am desperate to find a solution to my 91 yr. old mother’s dry macular degeneration. For the last 2 years at my urging she has taken a handful of recommended “eye vitamins” (Vitacost’s Ocu-Power, plus additional lutein, zeaxanthin, ginkgo, etc.) with no improvement. She has blue eyes and gardened many years without sunglasses, but no other risk factors such as smoking, and other bad habits — a big veg eater all her life, particularly leafy greens. Also, no known cases of macular degeneration in her family. Conventional medicine offers her no hope, and she now despairs that alternative medicine has any remedies either.
Is there a beneficial supplement “out there” that I have missed — something that could possibly reverse some of the damage to her eyes? Not hoping for a miracle cure. My mom has no major health problems — cholesterol a little high, tinnitis, that’s it — and could be very active if she could just see.
Thank you for your time,
Barb G.
A: Barb,
It sounds like you are on top of it. I have no idea at this point how beneficial this will be but I would definitely add it to the program – 3 a day for 30 days than 1 a day there after.
Oculotrophin PMG from Standard Process. Not is stores – must get from DC, DO, ND, MD, or internet.
Sincerely,
Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
Response: Dr. Ettinger:
Thank you, thank you for your very prompt response to my question. I have found the supplement you recommend online, and intend to order it for my mother. If she has any success with it, I will report this good news to you so that you may pass it along to anyone else looking for effective strategies for macular degeneration.
Sincerely,
Barb G.
